The award ceremony of the Aenne Burda Award for Creative Leadership. This prize is bestowed annually at the DLD conference as recognition of young women, who have “reached the mountain top of the digital world”.
Viviane Reding, member of the European Parliament, and former winner of the Aenne Burda Award presented this year's award on stage of DLD. She mentioned a lot of former winners, e.g. Arianna Huffington and Marissa Mayer.
She illustrated the life of Aenne Burda, the mother of Dr. Hubert Burda (Chairman of DLD). Aenna Burda created trends, was not following the crowd, started her own business after World War 2. Women didn't had enough money for fashion and she created a magazine to produce fashion at home. Event the iron wall couldn't stop her. She expanded her business to the Soviet Union.
No borders could ever stop the winner as well. Edit Schlaffer is founder of "Women without borders" and "Sisters against violent extremism" to help women to get more self-confident, to give them a platform and to empower them to fight against violence. This is not only needed in Africa, it's now needed in Europe! We need Edit in Europe, because "We all are Charlie."
