FOCUS is a weekly German newsmagazine, with more than 4,5 million readers. Through reporting, news analysis and competence in economy and science, FOCUS and focus online set the news agenda with facts orientated journalism.. FOCUS is a multimedia brand that includes the newsmagazine FOCUS, the economic magazine FOCUS –MONEY as well as the health magazines FOCUS GESUNDHEIT and FOCUS DIABETES and a series of FOCUS SPECIALS.

In 2013 FOCUS awards the innovation price “Digital Star” on January 20 at Hubert Burda Medias DLD Conference. Digital innovations from Germany that include promising business ideas as well as scientific innovations are presented to the international digital scene. The presenting partner of “Digital Star” is BlackBerry 10, that offers a new innovative platform for app developers in Germany. The media partner of Digital Star is the news portal FOCUS Online. In 2013 Digital Star honores business models or new technologies in three categories.

In 2013, the “Digital Star“ goes to the app-provider „myTaxi“ from Hamburg, to the auction platform „Auctionata“ from Berlin and to the provider of big data analysis software “Blue Yonder“ from Karlsruhe. The winners of the Digital Star receive a media volume of 50.000 Euro gross from FOCUS as well as a seal for the purpose of self-marketing and the participation in the exclusive DLD Conference.

A jury of 24 members, chaired by the FOCUS editor Holger Schmidt, chose the winners. Among the jurors are experts like the entrepreneur Marco Börries, the investors Lars Hinrichs and Klaus Hommels, facebook manager Scott Woods, Prof. Thomas Hess from the LMU Munich, Stefan Winners, the Board Member of Hubert Burda Media, and DLD founder and CEO Steffi Czerny.
