Josh Weinstein is the founder of YouAreTV, a technology startup aimed at creating revolutionary participatory television experiences. Previously, Josh founded a trio of social sites for college students including CollegeOnly.com, RandomDorm.com, and GoodCrush.com after raising $1mm in venture capital one year out of college. He was named one of the “15 Hot Young Stars in New York Tech” by Business Insider. He also co-founded CollegeGovs - a listserv for student body presidents. Josh likes people, technology, and leveraging the latter for the benefit of the former.

Josh graduated from Princeton University in June 2009 with a degree in East Asian Studies focusing on modern China and Chinese language after spending three summers in China. At Princeton, Josh was President of the Undergraduate Student Government and was awarded the 1901 Medal as the senior that has done the most for Princeton. His Senior Thesis website, Photocracy.org, generated 100,000 votes in one month for crowd-sourced photo-sorting to analyze conceptions and perceptions of national identity in and between China, Japan, and the United States. Photocracy was based on his original survey methodology that has gone on to receive significant investment from Google.org and has been continued by his Thesis advisor.

Josh was born and raised in NYC. He attended Stuyvesant High School and was the 2004 U.S. High School speed chess champion. He was also featured on NY1 in 2005 as the scholar-athlete of the week as captain of the soccer and hockey teams. Josh served as the Executive Producer of a 250+ person theatrical production his Junior year. He attended The Dalton School previously, where he was captain of two national championship chess teams.

Josh enjoys video games, particularly NHL and FIFA as well as Words With Friends. He is learning and fond of Backgammon and Go. Josh’s alternate, ideal career paths would be a professional hockey player or actor/popstar in China (he is not good at singing, but enjoys it nonetheless). He also kind of looks like Harry Potter.
