Amnon Shashua, an expert in computer vision and machine learning, holds the Sachs Chair in Computer Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Amnon received his BSc in mathematics and computer science from Tel-Aviv University in 1985, his MSc in computer science in 1989 from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and his PhD in brain and cognitive sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Amnon completed his postdoctoral training at the Center for Biological and Computational Learning at MIT.
In 1999, Amnon co-founded Mobileye, and currently serves as Chairman and Chief Technology Officer. Located in Israel, Mobileye developed systems-on-chip and computer vision algorithms for detecting pedestrians, vehicles, traffic signs, lanes and more for driving assistance systems, providing a full range of active safety features using a single camera. Today, approximately 14 million cars from 27 automobile manufacturers rely on Mobileye technology to make their vehicles safer to drive. Mobileye is also developing autonomous driving technology. In August 2014, Mobileye claimed the title for largest Israeli IPO ever, raising $1B at a market cap of $5.3B.
