Eran Schenker, M.D., is a space biologist and aerospace physician whose research activities focus on the effect of space flight on mammalian embryonic and fetal development. He is a graduate of Ben Gurion University School of Medicine and founder and director of the Israeli Aerospace Medicine Institute (IAMI), where here has been conducting space biology and space medicine research for the past 10 years. During is studies in his residency in aerospace medicine at Wright State University, Dayton Ohio he was selected as the Primary Investigator for the first Israel Space Agency (ISA) space biology development study on board the NASA Space Shuttle. After returning to Israel in 1995, he continued with his research on the effect of space flight on mammalian embryonic and fetal development, during his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hadassah Medical Center, Mount Scopus, Jerusalem, Israel. He is a research fellow in the Center for Medical Education, School of Medicine Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheva. He is a graduate of the NASA Flight Surgeon Training Course at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX, and the International Space University (ISU) program at Life Sciences Department, Vienna, Austria. During his research he has published more than 50 medical publications, and he has received international grants and scholarships from the American physicians Fellowship for Medicine in Israel, International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine, Ohio Aeronautics Institute, International Space University, as well as from the Israel Space Agency and Israel Ministry of Health. During 1996-2002 he served as the Principle Investigator for 3 Israeli international space projects conducted on the Space Shuttle.
