Inge Missmahl is an Ashoka Fellow and the founder and Director of Ipso gGmbH, an internationally recognized organization active in mental health care, psychosocial support and cultural dialogues as a means for peace and reconciliation.
Inge developed a psychosocial counselling approach which enables people quickly to regain their potential to become active agents of their own lives, caring and taking responsibility for themselves and their social environment. The approach has been acknowledged by WHO, EU, WB, USAID and has been integrated into the Afghan health system as a non-pathological treatment for psychosocial and mental health problems, reaching more than 110.000 Afghans to date. Currently, Ipso is expanding its activities to Germany in order to support the mental health of refugees in the country.
Prior to founding Ipso, Inge worked as an expert for mental health care for various humanitarian organizations and international institutions such as Caritas or the European Commission, especially in Afghanistan.
She holds a Diploma as Analytical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst of the C.G. Jung Institut, Zurich, Switzerland. For many years, Inge worked as a dancer, choreographer and director of her own dancing school, using dance and theater to foster adults, kids and youth self-awareness and facilitate their partaking in society.
