Jared is passionate about the intersection of technology, business and culture. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of The Huffington Post and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia Business School. His course, focused on corporate strategy in the rapidly evolving technology and media sectors, consistently rates amongst the most popular classes at the business school. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member at the Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School, a mentor at Techstars, and an angel investor in several promising start-ups.
Previously, Jared held senior executive positions at several of the world's most innovative companies, where he led a wide range of functions, including: corporate strategy, corporate development, business development, business affairs, legal, and public policy. He was the Head of Corporate Development and General Counsel of Spotify, the Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer of AOL, and a member of the executive team for Google's multi-billion dollar advertising business in the Americas. He also co-founded Shake, a venture-backed legal technology start-up that was sold to Legal Shield in 2015. Earlier in his career, he specialized in structuring and negotiating complex corporate and commercial transactions involving technology at Capgemini North America and at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
He was named by Fortune/CNN Money as one of "five of tech's most powerful lawyers," by Business Insider twice to the Silicon Alley 100 List (a list of the 100 “coolest” people in NY Tech), and by TechWeek to its Top 100 List (based on his “significant impact on the technology and innovation ecosystem.”)
He received a MBA from Columbia Business School, a JD, with Honors, from the University of Chicago Law School, and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He enjoys competing in marathons, Ironman-distance triathlons, and tennis.
