Joachim Müller-Jung is head of the Science Departement at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.) since 2003. His writing, blogging and photographs are focused on topics in life sciences, medicine and Third culture. Born in Heidelberg and raised in a rural area next to it, he later studied Biology in Heidelberg, Cologne and finished his thesis about reptiles in Madagascar. He was trained as a newspaper journalist at the Kölnische Rundschau. Afterwards he spent some time working as a freelancer for different media, including radio. At that time he was mainly involved in print media coverage. As the digital era begun, his focus shifted to electronic platforms. Joachim is now writing for the newspaper F.A.Z. as well as for FAZ.net, where he tries to shape the transition to new forms of online journalism. He concentrates on the cross medial communication of science and the societal implications that result from scientific and technical progress.
