Natalie Massenet is Founder and Chairman of the world’s premier online luxury fashion retailer, NET-A-PORTER.COM. As a former Fashion Editor for international high profile publications W, WWD and Tatler, Massenet’s original idea for NET-A-PORTER was to create an online magazine which would allow women to buy the latest designer clothes straight from the page. This idea has grown into a profitable business that delivers over 300 leading international fashion brands to a global audience. The business was founded in a small artist’s studio in Chelsea in June 2000. NET-A-PORTER now employs over 900 employees across 4 locations in London and New York. The exciting and energetic environment is a reflection of Massenet’s goal to create a great place to shop and a great place to work. A fact recognized by The Guardian who hailed NET-A-PORTER as one of the “Top 5 coolest places to work in the UK” in 2006 and by The Sunday Times who named NET-A-PORTER as one of the ”Top 100 Best Companies to Work for” in 2009 and 2010. Massenet is the global spokesperson and ambassador for the business. Her day-to-day responsibilities include leading strategic direction, building long term relationships with brands, identifying key trends and the latest labels and translating commerce into an experience both online through the website and offline in the site’s bi-annual magazine. Her passionate and motivational leadership, infectious enthusiasm and strong determination to succeed have been recognised throughout the industry winning her many accolades. Most recently these include the Harper's Bazaar Innovator of the year in 2010, Quintessentially award for Excellence in 2010, being honoured with an MBE for services to the Fashion Industry in 2009, the Corporate Leadership award at Fashion Group International's 25th Annual Night of Stars 2008 and named the Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2008 European Business Leaders Awards. In 2010, its 10th year of business, the NET-A-PORTER group celebrated its one millionth customer order, launched its interactive magazine iPad app, announced the launch of dedicated global menswear retail site, MR PORTER and TheOutnet.com, the most fashionable fashion outlet, celebrated its first birthday. April also saw Richemont, the International luxury goods group; acquire the majority of shares in NET-A-PORTER at a valuation of £350 million. Natalie was born in Los Angeles in May 1965 to an English mother and American father and was raised in Madrid, Paris and Los Angeles.
