Today, Max Levchin, computer scientist, internet entrepreneur and co-founder of PayPal, presents his project HVF. HVF is focused on solving big problems and improving lives by extracting insights from the vast quantities of recordable information around us. It searches relentlessly for opportunities that create value by leveraging data. This takes the form of seed and early stage investment, rapid prototyping of internally-generated ideas, assembling the brightest minds in the many industries that will benefit from the data explosion, looking for interesting data sets and sources, and just geeking out on data.
For Levchin it is important to stay available for product strategies, offer specific expertise advice, help raise follow-on rounds and recruit early key people.
Esther Dyson, who knows all about the start-up scene, thinks Levchin's approach "is great".
