Augmenting Reading

Asymmetrica has created a format, called Asym, which will make web user experiences more enjoyable. Two of the main things reducing the value of the web are illiteracy and distractions. Asym seeks to overcome both through micro-typographic formatting. Changing the word spacing (some spaces are large, others smaller) in web texts encourages effective eye movement, thus improving cognition. Asym is currently available in English and Spanish. The German version will be launched exclusively at DLD16, while running a live demo of Asym to show how micro-typographic text reformatting works.
