Johannes Bohnen focuses on strategic communication activities, especially campaigning and change processes in the public realm. His areas of expertise include digitization, security, energy, Corporate Political Responsibility (CPR) as well as nation branding. Bohnen started his professional career with experiences in a US-Think Tank (CSIS), as a fellow at NATO and the WEU-Institut in Paris, the Bertelsmann Foundation and the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. He worked as speechwriter for the German Minister of Education, Science and Technology and as the press officer of the CDU in the federal state of Brandenburg. From 2000 to 2002, Bohnen headed the division Government & Institutions at PLATO Kommunikation. He then founded as managing director of Scholz & Friends Berlin the PR/public affairs arm (Scholz & Friends Agenda), which he headed until 2005. In 2004 he co-founded the Atlantic Initiative which runs the first online think tank on transatlantic and global issues (www.atlantic-community.org). After a two year apprenticeship in industrial business, Bohnen studied at Harvard, Bonn and Georgetown's School of Foreign Service (MA in International Relations) and received his Ph.D. from Oxford University.
