Lisa Dickey is the author of Bears in the Streets: Three Journeys Across a Changing Russia (St. Martin's Press), a colorful account of the Russian people she met with and interviewed over a 20-year period. The book was released to critical acclaim in January 2017; Madeleine Albright called it "brilliant, real and readable." Prior to writing Bears, Lisa worked as a ghostwriter and book collaborator, helping clients write 17 published books, including 8 New York Times bestsellers. Her list of clients includes such luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Gavin Newsom, Cissy Houston, Kara Swisher, Whitewater figure Susan McDougal, and Patrick Swayze.

Lisa began her career in St. Petersburg, Russia, writing articles for The Moscow Times and USA Today. Prior to her writing career she worked as a nonprofit grant writer, a Russian translator, and as a lounge singer in Japan. She is an accomplished storyteller, appearing at live events such as the Moth Grand Slam.
