Ludwig von Bayern
Ludwig von Bayern is a Social Entrepreneur and development aid specialist for digital opportunities in Africa’s remote regions.
He studied Law and Political Science, with a focus on International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law and received his Law Diploma from the University of Göttingen. Born into the succession line of the Royal Family of Wittelsbach, he worked several years alongside his uncle HRH Duke Francis of Bavaria at Nymphenburg Castle. He holds several advisory positions in institutions that were founded by the Wittelsbach family, like the advisory board of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) or the Ambassador Circle for Munich Children’s Hospital.
As Executive Manager of the charitable foundation Hilfsverein Nymphenburg, he has implemented several relief projects concerning food, water and education in remote rural areas in East-Africa, including the construction of several schools.
Out of necessity to enable young adults in remote areas to generate income he co-founded several social enterprises and non-profit organizations, that make use of digital opportunities to fight poverty. He is Chief Executive Officer of the award-winning organization Startup Lions, which provides young adults a home to learn, earn and start their own digital career in a Campus Model designed for the most remote areas of Africa. Ludwig von Bayern lives in Munich but spends most of the year at his projects in east Africa.
