A career of over twenty years in environmental planning, urban development and technology in Europe, North America and Asia, has made Mikele a recognised leader in sustainable cities. Formally an urban planner, Mikele is a Sloan Fellow with an MSc in Leadership and Strategy from London Business School where she focussed on entrepreneurship. Currently, Mikele works with the UK's Future Cities Catapult, a global centre of excellence on city innovation, to engage the market and identify and progress commercial opportunities for the organisation and its stakeholders. Mikele’s previously worked with the Greater London Authority (GLA) developing a programme for energy retrofit of commercial buildings . This advisory role was organised in conjunction with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, a network of mega cities taking action on cliate change and chaired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.. Previously, Mikele led the Cities and Government sector in General Electric’s Global Growth and Operations team for Europe, developing commercial models for Energy Performance Contracting and low carbon energy solutions for central and local government. . Prior to joining GE, Mikele led the UK introduction of Building Information Management services, promoting collaboration and efficiency in design, construction and lifecycle portfolio management. Earlier in her career as an urban planner, Mikele worked with cross-sector, integrated teams on the sustainable development and socio-economic impact assessment of new urban areas, regeneration areas and urban infrastructure systems in Canada, Hong Kong and South-east Asia.
