Dr. Olaf Göttgens was the Vice President in charge of Brand Communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars at Daimler AG since January 2006. In this capacity he was responsible for the brand management as well as for all marketing areas and Mercedes-Benz Classic, including the Mercedes-Benz Museum. His professional life included positions at DGM, Anderson Consulting, BBDO Consulting Europe and most recently, as Chief Executive Officer for BBDO Germany. Dr. Göttgens studied business administration with an emphasis on marketing, trade and information systems and earned his Doctorate on "Success Factors in Stagnant and Shrinking Markets," graduating summa cum laude from the University of Saarland. Mercedes-Benz, the world´s oldest automaker, is the core brand of the Mercedes-Benz Cars division of Daimler AG. Mercedes-Benz stands for innovative automobiles, quality and safety, sophisticated driving experience and contemporary design and benefits from its unique tradition. Unfortunately, Dr. Göttgens passed away in June 2011.
